With our students preparing for finals, our teacher out of town, and our sponsor on vacation for the holiday we slowed down over the weekend from our previous breakneck pace.  A few design developments have been made over the break, but we’ll get those updates out when we resume tomorrow.  Part of our build crew will be going to the GM tech center to fabricate our shooter parts for plan A while a second group stays at the school to CAD climber plan A and CAD/prototype shooter plan B (just in case we need it, we want to be prepared).  We’re making an effort this week to continue to use all of our human resources even as we begin to split our meetings between two locations.

Since we don’t have many robot updates for you, we instead put together some fun stats on tournaments in Michigan.

Teams at the FRC Michigan State Championship 2010-2012

The above chart shows the breakdown of teams vs. attendance at states in the past three seasons (2010-2012).  Of the 209 teams currently registered in the state of MI, 15% have been to states all three of the past three years, 10% have been two of the past three years, 22% have been one of the past three years, and 51% have not been to states at all in the past three years (including this years rookies, who have not yet had the opportunity, but none the less did not attend).

So where are those teams that consistently perform well going to compete at districts in 2013?  Waterford looks to be stacked with these regularly successful teams with nearly half of the teams attending having qualified for states 2 of the previous 3 seasons, and Grand Blanc isn’t far behind.  Bedford is deceivingly shallow at the moment with only 18 teams currently registered (Though any additional teams that register for Bedford will not be eligible to accumulate points)
